Why They’re Taken Out
You’re more likely to have issues with these molars than with any other teeth. A top reason is impaction, when the tooth may not have enough room to come out from the gum like it should.
Simple Extraction
How difficult it may be to take your tooth our depends on the position and angulation the tooth is inside the gums. If it has come into the jaw completely. Then we will numb your gums, loosen the tooth with a sterile instrument, then pull the tooth out with dental instrument which look like pliers. We will clean out the area and pack it with gauze to stop bleeding.
Surgical Extraction
If your tooth is still below the gum line, you’ll likely need to have it surgically removed. Which may require a bit of drilling of the bone around the tooth with a surgical hand-piece, to allow the wisdom tooth to gently be lifted from the socket. After which our surgeons may need to place a few retaining stitches to allow for gum healing
