The concept and design were developed by Dr Arif and his wife Samina Alvi. The burnt brick structure was selected to give the hospital a homely, natural and welcoming façade. An aviary was added to lighten the surroundings and have natural sounds. Even the ceilings in our operatories were designed taking into consideration that the dental patient is supine most of the time and is staring up at the roof.
We feel that this is the first time such ceiling interest has been created in dental office architecture anywhere in the world and since then, has been well reported and copied extensively. The plants and greenery are symbolic of our environmental concerns as well as of health, healing and life.
